What is the best media for acid neutralization in a home chemical feeder system potash, soda ash, or calcite?
And what's the difference between dense soda ash and light soda ash? Is one used for Water Treatment and the other not?
Trying to buy media online to save money, and want to get the best for my money (of course)!
you might NOT want to use calcite, although its probably ok. since calcite contains Calcium (as Ca2+), it might form insoluble salts (like CaSO4 or Ca2(PO4)2) which could potentially clog the pipes of your feeder system.
think "soap scum." calcite might form soap scum on/inside your pipes.
otherwise, soda ash (contains sodium as Na+) or potash (contains potassium as K+) should both probably work fine
