85 Vette Runs about 3 TO 5 Mins. and dies changed temp control sensor?
Bought from guy he overheated the car. Headgasset was out I had a new one put in I had the heads competly redone.changed the fuel filter,drained tank,fresh gas,put new temp control sensor.before I put new Temp Sensor in. it wouldnt even rev. up it woud only stay running a little bit about 1 min. at the most. I put a new pressure reguator in also.Im getting about 40 to 42 for pressure.
Have you checked the vacuum? A potato jammed up the tail pipe will let the car run a minute or two before it stops. Put a vacuum gage on it, crank it up and see what happens to the vacuum. IF it slowly comes up (toward zero), you may have a stopped up catalytic converter or, and yes, a potato jammed up the tail pipe. Another thought is the tail pipe is crimped from backing into a curb or could be jammed with dirt from backing into a dirt bank. Good luck. Pops
