How much would it cost to get my impeller changed?
I have a 1976 Mercury 1500 Outboard that needs a new impeller, I have a new impeller kit and everything. How much do you think a mechanic would charge to replace it and everything?
Most Marine dealerships post a "shop labor rate" That is what they charge Per Hour for the labor. This varies with region of the country and even from dealer to dealer. The Manufacturer has a "flat rate" time estimate. So many hours to do a job......Like 2 hours to inspect and change the impeller. Then there are additional times added in some cases for things like broken bolts or props that are corroded to the shaft. So. 2x$110/hr= $220......... The good news is that this is a job you can learn to do fairly easily.....Do it your self 2 X $0= ????. Good luck!
