Mileage and motor work help?
Looking to buy a different car. Found a few online that I like but I'm curious about something. Many of these cars are listed to have 100,xxx+ miles on them and I've come across two different situations:
1. Some have OEM motor swaps with say 20,xxx+ miles on them even though the body has 100,xxx+ miles on it. Does that now mean that the mile counter would actually be lower? Does that basically mean that the car has whatever miles on it that the motor does and will run that way? aka like a younger car with low mileage?
2. The car is stated to have 100,xxx+ miles on it, but it has a full engine rebuild. (head, rings, head Gasket Kit, upper/lower timing chains, new chain guides, seals, head bolts, Water Pump, oil pan and pump, lifters, head resurfaced) Does this mean that the car will run strong like a car with less miles? Since this rebuild happened, there's been no more than 2,500 miles put on the car.
look at it this way... you have this 100 year old body with the heart of a 20 year old
do you think the rest of the body is just going to magically get better ???
no, you have a 100k plus body and other parts with a re-manufactured engine...
But having one of the most expensive parts replaced is a good thing
