Need pool help FAST!?
I've been getting air bubbles in the pump basket (Hayward Super Pump), for a few weeks now. Then a few nights ago I noticed after a few hours of the pump running, the level of water in the pump goes down to about the top of the leaf basket. This has happened 3 nights in a row now. I replaced all gaskets (with lube), even the gaskets and seals in the motor/impeller assembly are new, and the pump lid is new too (I just double checked it again for cracks.) All was perfect for 2 months after I replaced everything, and now this. Also the pressure on the filter (DE), climbs to about 30 after only a few hours, even after I backwash and recharge. This is most frustrating since I live in AZ and it's causing my water to get cloudy and yucky real fast. PLEASE HELP!
sounds like the problem is w/ your filter or somethig may be lodged inside the rreturn line ... check for broken check valve (sometimes w/ "spring check" check valves you have to cut the pipe to see inside it), also check inside the heater front header as there's also a spring check that dislodges )should have a large brass plug you can remove to see inside)
If this is the case or there another restriction to the water getting back to the pool, it will cause your Filter Pressure to run high and the reason your getting air in the pump basket is because the pump is cavitating (can't suck enough water due to inability to push it through the system)
