Question about negative sign in EMF = - dΦ/dt...?

I don't really understand why that negative sign is there. I was doing the following question, and if I leave the negative sign there, I get -450uT/ms, which is wrong...

My problem isn't the question, I can do the question. I just don't understand why the negative in EMF = - dΦ/dt, result in the wrong answer. Why's the negative there in the first place?

In the equation EMF= -dΦ/dt,the negative sign is used to denote direction and not magnitude,i.e,According to lenz law,"An induced current is always in such a direction as to oppose the motion or change causing it".The negative sign in the equation represents the opposing direction.
