Swing Axle? Repair aka back Axle?
I can't find any info on repairing the back axle we think it is called a swing axle, any one have any information on it??
Sorry forgot the info.. its a 1969 VW Bug and the top of the back tires lean in on occasions when its sitting still. sometimes its just one tire that does it the driver side some times its both.. i have an idiots guide to the bug but it doesn't mention much about the swing axle i think i need to get a new book. just need to know if it can be repaired or if i have to get a new one..
It is called a swing axle. Older Volkswagens, and a few other cars, used them. They can be a little hairy during extreme maneuvers. Anyway, you're being a little vague. What do you need to know? If you own one, get the Dummies Guide to Volkswagen Repair. No vintage VW owner should be without it. Very simple to repair, but axles may be best left to mechanics with proper tools.
