What is it that whales spray out?
I was told that whales spray is made up of snot is this true and also where is it coming from?. ? the lungs.
They are spouting air out of their lungs, this is how they breathe. Since they are coming out of the water, the force of the air coming out of the blow hole propels some of the surrounding sea water up into the air.
The water baleen whales take in when they feed on krill is expelled back out of their mouth through their baleen plates. This allows them to filter out the krill. None of this water comes out of their blow hole.
